6/29/25 | Abrams' 2-run triple in 11th helps Nats beat Angels; Washington's Wood walked intentionally 4 times. CJ Abrams' two-run triple capped a three-run 11th inning, and Washington's James Wood became the sixth player in MLB history to be intentionally walked four times as the Nationals beat the Los Angeles Angels 7-4 on Sunday. Daylen Lile led off the 11th with a single off Connor Brogdon (1-1) and automatic runner Brady House advanced to third. Drew Miles doubled and drove in the go-ahead run before Abrams tripled, giving the Nationals their first series win Anaheim since 2005 — their first season after relocating from Montreal. 6/25/25 | Nationals Breakout Star Takes Shot at New York Yankees. Despite the underwhelming season the Washington Nationals are having again, there have been plenty of exciting developments for the team. 6/24/25 | CJ Abrams Only Third Player in Nationals Franchise History To Achieve This Feat. Prior to last night's game against the San Diego Padres there had only been two players in the Washington Nationals history to record 100-stolen bases in a Nats uniform, now there are three. In a win against the Padres, shortstop CJ Abrams stole his 100th base in the sixth inning joining Trea Turner (192) and Ian Desmond (122) according to Nationals Communications. Turner spent his first 6.5 seasons in the Majors in a Washington uniform. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/nationals/news/cj-abrams-on... |
6/22/25 | Washington Nationals Star Near Top of Several National League Batting Leaders. The Washington Nationals continue to make their case for their young sluggers to represent the National League in the All-Star Game next month. The Official Nationals Communications account on X (formerly Twitter) made the case for shorstop CJ Abrams, who at the time was near the top of the National League in multiple hitting categories. Among shortstops in the NL, at the time of the post, he was sitting first in slugging percentage (.478) as well as OPS (.832). OPS is the combination of on-base percentage and slugging percentage that shows a complete picture of a player's offensive capability. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/nationals/news/washington-n... |
6/13/25 | Nationals Young Star 'Could Be Getting the Barry Bonds Treatment Soon'. The Washington Nationals have a few very good young players who have emerged as legitimate foundational pieces for their rebuild. Shortstop CJ Abrams and ace starting pitcher MacKenzie Gore have both been excellent, but it is left fielder James Wood who looks to be the true franchise cornerstone right now. All three players, along with outfielder Robert Hassell III -- who recently made his big league debut -- and right-handed pitching prospect Jarlin Susana, were acquired from the San Diego Padres in the Juan Soto blockbuster deal.
