1/23/25 Why Healthy Trevor Story, Triston Casas Spells Red Sox Reality. Triston Casas and Trevor Story played just 89 games for the Red Sox in 2024. The Red Sox missed the playoffs by five games last season. With impact starting additions in Garrett Crochet and Walker Buehler, Boston should be better. Could, let's say, 140 games from each of Casas and Story be enough to push the Red Sox to the playoffs for the first time since 2021?

1/14/25 Triston Casas shares characteristically chill response to recent Red Sox trade rumors. Few players have given rise to more trade speculation this offseason than Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas. With rumors that the Sox might move Rafael Devers to first to make room for a new third baseman, Casas' name has been floated in the trade market consistently. "I feel like that's part of the business of baseball is checking in on players, seeing what kind of value you can get back," Casas said at Fenway Fest on Jan. 11. Casas has spoken with several people in the organization about the rumors, and the Red Sox have told him that for now, none of them are true.

1/13/25 Former Red Sox fan favorite signs minor-league deal with Yankees. Throughout the 2024 season, the Boston Red Sox had to find ways to replace Triston Casas' production with the starting first baseman missing significant time due to torn cartilage in his rib. For 84 games, the Red Sox called on Dom Smith to do exactly that, and he did the job well, hitting .237 with a .706 OPS, six home runs and 34 RBIs while having to beat out Garrett Cooper for opportunities. Boston eventually designated Smith for assignment and finished the year with the Cincinnati Reds. Now, he's joining the New York Yankees on a minor-league deal, according to YES Network's Jack Curry.

1/12/25 Blue Jays trade idea ships $450 million All-Star to Red Sox for Triston Casas package. The Toronto Blue Jays have a dark cloud hanging over their heads, a dilemma tougher than perhaps any other team is facing at the moment. Superstar first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr., a four-time All-Star through his age-25 season, is only a year away from hitting free agency. As crazy as it might sound, Toronto might have to trade Guerrero away if they can't see eye to eye with him on his next contract. Would they consider moving Guerrero within the division, even if that provides them with the biggest roster upgrades?

1/11/25 Red Sox's Triston Casas Takes Hard Stance On Future In Boston. There has been a lot of chatter this offseason about the future of Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas. Casas is just 24 years old and won't be a free agent until 2029. While this is the case, he missed most of the 2024 season due to a rib cartilage injury. The trade chatter has continued all offseason, but the young slugger certainly made it known what he hopes the team does on Saturday on WEEI, as transcribed by Red Sox Stats on X.

1/10/25 Red Sox Rumors: Triston Casas trade destinations surfacing out of nowhere. The Boston Red Sox front office has given mixed messages about Triston Casas' future with the team, which, at this point, seems purposeful. Casas is a fan-favorite with a big personality and 30-40 home run potential, but his trade value is likely lower than it should be this winter after he missed nearly four months of last season with a rib injury. Boston's chief baseball officer Craig Breslow has been adamant that the team has no plans to shop Casas.

1/09/25 Red Sox Projected Trade Lands 23-Year-Old Ace For Triston Casas Package. There has been far more chatter about a possible Triston Casas trade for the Boston Red Sox this offseason than expected. Casas had a down year in 2024 thanks in large part to his torn cartilage injury in his rib cage. Casas finished the season with 13 home runs and 32 RBIs in 63 games played. There was a lot of trade chatter involving him before the team ended up signing Walker Buehler.

1/09/25 Red Sox, Pirates three-player Triston Casas trade 'could happen' in offseason. The Pittsburgh Pirates have a starting rotation that should be the envy of virtually every other Major League Baseball team, but their offense could use a boost. Proposing a series of “realistic MLB trades that could happen before 2025 spring training” for Bleacher Report, Zachary Rymer pitched a deal with the Boston Red Sox that would do just that. “Trade Proposal: Boston Red Sox get RHP Jared Jones; Pittsburgh Pirates get 1B Triston Casas, 2B/SS David Hamilton,” Rymer suggested.

1/07/25 Red Sox showing interest in projected $160 million dollar superstar first baseman. The Boston Red Sox have been on the hunt for a righty slugger this whole offseason, but to no avail. This man has been on the Sox fandom's radar for a while. If the Sox were to sign Alonso, he would probably have to DH. The Sox already have Triston Casas, who is a pretty good first baseman defensively.

1/07/25 Triston Casas remains at risk as long as Red Sox are a trade suitor for Nolan Arenado. Boston Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow has been adamant that the team is not actively shopping Triston Casas. The slugging first baseman is a fan-favorite among much of Red Sox Nation and many would hate to see him go before the organization saw his best work.

1/02/25 Red Sox Could Trade Triston Casas And Sign 4-Time All-Star Slugger, Per Insider. The Boston Red Sox swear they're not shopping Triston Casas. No Red Sox player's name has surfaced more recently in trade talks this winter, and a deal to send Casas to the Seattle Mariners for starting pitcher Luis Castillo came at least somewhat close to fruition. Now that the Red Sox's starting rotation looks close to becoming a finished product, does a Casas table suddenly fall off the table completely? Not so, says on Major League Baseball insider.

12/27/24 Red Sox, Mariners nearly completed trade for starting pitching but one player held up a deal. The Boston Red Sox have already upgraded their starting rotation, which was their biggest need entering this offseason, but they haven't been satisfied by the changes. It's been widely reported that Boston has been engaged in trade talks with the Seattle Mariners for one of their starting pitchers, and Luis Castillo has been the one mainly linked to the Red Sox at this point. According to MLB insider Mark Feinsand, the Mariners wanted Triston Casas back in a trade, but the Red Sox wouldn't make that happen unless Seattle also took Masataka Yoshida and the three years and $55.8 million he has remaining on his deal.

12/22/24 Red Sox Predicted To 'Revisit' Blockbuster Trade Talks Involving Mariners Ace. The most commonly discussed trade possibility for the Boston Red Sox might have a new outlook. A deal with the Seattle Mariners centered around three-time All-Star pitcher Luis Castillo and Boston first baseman Triston Casas has been floated countless times by dozens of publications this winter. Seattle doesn't necessarily need a new first baseman, since they have Luke Raley as an option for the position, but it's an easy spot to fit a big bat, many of which are leaving the market. If Seattle strikes out on Pete Alonso and Alex Bregman, neither of whom they seem to be closely linked to, then their best option to improve the offense may be Casas.

12/19/24 Red Sox insider emphasizes team's commitment to Triston Casas after Mariners rumors. The Boston Red Sox and Seattle Mariners have been surrounded by trade rumors since Winter Meetings. MLB Network insider Jon Morosi and reporters Ryan Divish and Adam Jude from The Seattle Times have been the sources of many of the speculations, but there have also been some real moves attempted between the two sides.

12/18/24 Boston Red Sox Insider Speculates Perhaps Kutter Crawford Could Get Traded to Seattle Mariners. There's been renewed talks of late around the Red Sox acquiring starting pitcher Luis Castillo, though the two sides appear to disagree on the framework of a deal. The general thought has been that the Red Sox could give the M's first baseman Triston Casas, but recent reports have indicated that the M's might actually want a starting pitcher back in a deal for Castillo.

12/17/24 Insider suggests Mariners trade three-time All-Star ace to Red Sox. The Seattle Mariners are in desperate need of some thump in their lineup. As such, Seattle might be forced to consider drastic measures to improve their lineup. Jim Bowden of The Athletic suggests that Seattle should trade right-hander and three-time All-Star Luis Castillo to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for Triston Casas and prospect Blaze Jordan.

12/16/24 Mariners-Red Sox trade pitch sends Bryan Woo to Boston in four-player swap. The Seattle Mariners could be fielding plenty of calls this winter. Writing up a potential trade that could intrigue the Mariners for Newsweek, Zach Pressnell proposed a four-player swap that would bring first baseman Triston Casas and prospects Allan Castro and Luis Guerrero from the Boston Red Sox while sending Woo back in exchange.

12/15/24 MLB Rumors: Key Update Amid Red Sox-Mariners Trade Talks. If the Red Sox acquire Luis Castillo, it doesn't sound like it will come at the cost of Triston Casas. Seattle boasts very appealing starting pitching depth, and Boston has the assets it would take to pry one of those arms out of the Pacific Northwest. Castillo appears to be the likeliest candidate given his age (32) and the term on his current contract.

12/14/24 Red Sox Proposed Triston Casas Blockbuster Lands $77 Million All-Star From Pirates. The Boston Red Sox continue to explore Triston Casas trades, whether fans love it or hate it. The slugging first baseman Casas has 40-homer potential, and no one denies it. If Casas does get traded, it seems obvious that the Red Sox would be getting a reliable major-league starting pitcher in return. John Perrotto of Pittsburgh Baseball Now recently proposed a blockbuster that would send Casas to the Pittsburgh Pirates, in exchange for right-handed pitcher Mitch Keller, second baseman Nick Gonzales, and pitching prospect Luis Castillo.
