6/07/25 | Twins' bullpen finally cracks in 5-4 loss to Blue Jays. Matt Wallner's go-ahead homer in the sixth was spoiled by George Springer's go-ahead homer in the eighth and the Toronto Blue Jays clipped the Minnesota Twins 5-4 Saturday afternoon at Target Field. The game was tied 2-2 before Wallner lofted a towering homer to the right field bleachers off Toronto right-hander Kevin Gausman. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/twins/minnesota-twins-news/... |

5/30/25 | Matt Wallner lighting it up on rehab assignment with Triple-A Saints. Matt Wallner looks ready to return to the Minnesota Twins. Wallner, who's been sidelined since April 17 with a hamstring strain, has been red-hot from the plate since beginning a rehab assignment with the Triple-A St. Paul Saints on May 22. In six rehab games with the Saints, Wallner has slashed .320/.960/1.330 with a double, five homers and 13 RBIs. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/twins/minnesota-twins-injur... |
5/24/25 | Twins’ Matt Wallner’s return draws nearer, though results in Triple-A won’t hasten it. Matt Wallner may be tearing up Triple-A pitching, but don’t expect the Twins to tear up their carefully constructed plans for his rehab schedule to bring him back any sooner. Wallner, who has been on the injured list with a strained hamstring since mid-April, hit two home runs on Thursday in his first rehab game and had another three hits and three RBIs on Friday. 5/23/25 | Baltimore Orioles Top Prospect Continues to Mash at Triple-A, Providing Much-Needed Optimism. Samuel Basallo had quite a night for the Triple-A Norfolk Tides. The top prospect of the Baltimore Orioles, playing against the St. Paul Saints (Minnesota Twins affiliate), was 3-for-3 on Thursday night with a double, two home runs, three RBIs, four runs and a walk in an 8-3 win. Both home runs were such prodigious shots that all right fielder Matt Wallner – on a rehab assignment for Minnesota – could do was watch as they sailed over the fence. 5/22/25 | What does an ideal, fully-healthy Minnesota Twins lineup look like?. Offense has not been the strength of the 2025 Minnesota Twins, who are 27-22 heading into a weekend series against the Royals at Target Field. It's been their pitching staff — both the starting rotation and the bullpen — that has largely driven their recent success (14-2 since May 3). Matt Wallner, Minnesota's Opening Day leadoff hitter, has been out for over a month with a hamstring injury. Royce Lewis missed the first month and change with his own hamstring strain, then got off to a slow start in May. Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa have been on the concussion IL since crashing into each other last week. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/twins/minnesota-twins-news/... |
5/20/25 | What It Takes To End a 13-Game Winning Streak. Of all teams to go from completely joyless to an atom bomb in a matter of weeks, I was not expecting the Minnesota Twins. 'Matt Wallner I guess'. 'Harrison Bader's got a high WAR at least'. Like I didn't get many definitive answers about who was actually leading this team, or where the energy was coming from. 4/17/25 | Minnesota Twins, Amid Injury Woes, Set to Add Top Prospect with Sterling Pro Stats. The Minnesota Twins announced two roster moves on Thursday but didn't reveal the biggest one of all. They are promoting their top infield prospect – Luke Keaschall, listed by MLB Pipeline as the No. 57 prospect in baseball – to the big leagues, and he will join the Twins in Atlanta on Friday when they play the Braves. Still working his way back from Tommy John surgery last summer, Keaschall could be limited to designated hitter duties for the Twins at the outset. The Minnesota Star Tribune reported the news of his promotion on Thursday. 4/16/25 | Twins to place Wallner on injured list with hamstring strain, believe Correa's sore wrist is minor. The Minnesota Twins will place right fielder Matt Wallner on the 10-day injured list with a strained left hamstring, after avoiding a long-term absence for shortstop Carlos Correa with his sore left wrist. Wallner was held out of the 4-3 victory over the New York Mets on Wednesday, after he felt tightness in the muscle while running out an infield hit in the first inning the night before. The Twins removed shortstop Willi Castro from the game with mild tightness in his right oblique, sending Mickey Gasper to pinch-hit for him in the eighth. Correa took over in the field, but his place in the order didn't come up. Source: https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/baseball/... |
4/15/25 | Minnesota Twins Fan Support Hits Historic Low in Monday Loss to New York Mets. The Minnesota Twins lost 5-1 to the New York Mets on Monday night at Target Field, dropping to 5-12 on the season. The Twins are in fourth place in the American League Central and they would be looking even worse if not for the presence of the Chicago White Sox in the same division. The Twins mustered just three hits, with Matt Wallner getting two of them. Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa are both hitting under .180 for the season and Royce Lewis continues to be hurt. 3/27/25 | Rocco Baldelli structures Twins lineup to avoid using too many pinch hitters. “If you said, 'Hey, if you can get Matt Wallner 40 more plate appearances this year by hitting him in the leadoff spot, would you think about doing that? Do you think that might be a good idea?' There's more to account for, but I like that idea,” Baldelli said. “He's been a really good hitter the last couple of years. … I think he's going to get on base a lot. I think he's going to have quality plate appearances on the regular, and I think he's going to hit some balls hard, too.” Source: https://www.startribune.com/minnesota-twins-pinch-... |

The Minnesota Twins placed outfielder Matt Wallner on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday because of a left oblique strain, ending his regular season, and activated right-hander Justin Topa, who hasn't pitched all season because of left patellar tendinitis, from the 60-day IL. In other moves, the Twins recalled right-hander Jorge Alcala and rookie utility player Austin Martin from Triple-A St. Paul, optioned left-hander Brent Headrick to St. Paul and designated lefty Cole Irvin for assignment.
