Vladimir Guerrero Jr. reached base four times and drove in a pair of runs as the Blue Jays won for the 11th time in 13 meetings with Los Angeles. Brandon Drury hit a solo home run for the Angels, his second of the season, but Los Angeles lost its fifth straight and 13th of 16. Gausman allowed one run and two hits in seven innings. | 7/20/24 | Blue Jays thoughts: Bo Bichette hits the injured list, complicating trade strategy. On Saturday, the Jays put him on the 10-day injured list and called up Addison Barger. Right leg injuries have been a recurring problem for Bichette over the last two years. In 2023, he had knee and quad issues that required a pair of stints on the injured list. Fitting beautifully into the arc of the 2024 season so far, the three-game sweep, capped by a 7-3 loss to the visiting Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night, came against a team the Jays could have passed in the standings. As has far too often been the case, the Jays had their chances early and couldn't come through: two on and nobody out in the first inning, first and second and one out in each of the second and third — zero runs. Meanwhile, the Red Sox opened the scoring in the third when ninth-place hitter Romy González reached on an Addison Barger error (one of four committed by the Jays), stole second and scored on a David Hamilton single.
