SAN DIEGO — Ben Brown’s rough major-league debut could have been the precursor to a potentially tough transition as he made the jump from the minors. The 24-year-old right-hander didn’t let that night in Arlington, Texas carry over. Ten days later, Brown shut down the San Diego Padres in his first big-league start. Brown’s 4 2/3 shutout innings were exactly what the Cubs needed after blowing ...

4/04/24 Ben Brown shares secret to short-sleeve look on frigid Wrigley Field night. Chicago Cubs pitcher Ben Brown was asked to bounce back from a tough MLB debut, and he was not only able to do so, but he did it in style against the Colorado Rockies.
4/03/24 Chicago Cubs reportedly making the aggressive decision to move Michael Arias to relief. When it comes to their pitching prospects, the Chicago Cubs are showing a little more aggression with their moves of late in hopes of maximizing upside. First, it was the team's #2-ranked pitching prospect Ben Brown getting the nod to join the big league team ahead of Hayden Wesneski after Justin Steele's injury. Now, the organization is reportedly making the surprisingly early call to move Michael Arias to the bullpen in Double-A Tennessee. The report in question comes from Arizona Phil, who noted that Arias's spot in the rotation will be taken by Richard Gallardo.
3/31/24 Ben Brown's Major League debut creates confusion on role with Chicago Cubs. The Chicago Cubs wasted no time in having highly-touted pitching prospect Ben Brown make his Major League debut as the right-hander appeared in the team's loss to the Texas Rangers on Saturday night. Brown pitched a scoreless frame in the seventh inning but struggled with his command in the eighth inning. When all was done, Brown was touched up for 6 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks in 1.2 innings of work. At the end of the day, Brown's appearance on Saturday will not take away from the shine that he has in terms of being a potential answer in the starting rotation, however, that is where some confusion has been created.
