| 6/12/25 | Orioles stars were once demoted, giving Heston Kjerstad a path to follow. Tuesday wasn't Heston Kjerstad's first time being optioned to Triple-A. But it was the first time it happened because of his performance. After impressing at the plate despite sporadic playing time the past two seasons, Kjerstad spent the past six weeks mired in a slump — batting .164 with a .468 OPS — that he wasn't able to hit his way out of. When Cedric Mullins came off the injured list Tuesday, Kjerstad suffered the same fate — a demotion to the minors — that many of his Orioles teammates have in the past. Jackson Holliday, who was optioned about two weeks after his MLB debut last April because of his high-profile struggles, knows the disappointment, the frustration, the self-doubt that Kjerstad is feeling.
