Monday was also Lou Gehrig Day, which was a day to recognize the famous baseball player and raise awareness about amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Gehrig battled with ALS, which led to his death on June 2, 1941. The Twins, who scored six times in the top of the second inning for a 6-0 lead, saw their trimmed to 6-4 after the bottom of the fourth inning when the A's scored three times, thanks largely to Lawerence Butler smacking a 3-run homer to center field, driving in teammates Drew Avans and Denzel Clarke.
