| 9/06/25 | Red Sox rookie Payton Tolle roughed up by Diamondbacks in his second career start. “We hate failing, but if you don't fail you're not going to learn anything,” said Tolle. Whereas Pirates hitters could not make sense of Tolle's fastball, the Diamondbacks showed no such confusion. “That was a great at-bat,” saluted Red Sox manager Alex Cora. After the Sox tied the game on a Nathaniel Lowe RBI triple in the top of the second, Tolle gave back the lead in the bottom of the inning, allowing a double and eventually uncorking a run-scoring wild pitch on a changeup in the middle of a 14-pitch walk to Ketel Marte.
