6/15/24 Rangers hopeful Scherzer back after rehab start. The Rangers are hopeful to have three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer back in the rotation after Saturday's rehab start in Triple-A Round Rock.
6/11/24 Max Scherzer 'Really Encouraged,' Could Rejoin Texas Rangers Rotation Next Week. Max Scherzer could rejoin the Texas Rangers rotation as early as next week if his next rehab start goes as planned. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Scherzer could be ready to come off the injured list if he can hit a 70- to 75-pitch threshold in his next rehab start on Friday. Scherzer looked very sharp in his first rehab outing for Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday. It was Scherzer's first rehab start since April 24.
6/10/24 Max Scherzer's rehab start after previous injury setback sparks hope for Rangers ace. Future Hall of Fame pitcher Max Scherzer made his first professional start since April on Sunday, tossing four scoreless innings for the Texas Rangers Triple-A team. It was his second start since his surgery in December. Scherzer struck out five batters and surrendered only two base runners. Scherzer turns 40 three days before the July 30 trade deadline and will be a free agent after the season.
6/10/24 Mets Star Called 'Big Name' Who Be On Trade Block This Summer At Deadline. The New York Mets spent this past offseason looking for ways to reload the starting rotation but it could look different again this summer. New York seemed to be in a good spot heading into the 2023 campaign but struggled and ended up being sellers and traded away future Hall of Famers Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander. The Mets responded last offseason by adding Luis Severino and Sean Manaea into the mix in free agency. Although the rotation has been steady, New York is in danger of becoming sellers once again and Severino was called a "big name" who could be on the trade block by Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller.
6/09/24 Max Scherzer throws 4 scoreless innings in long-delayed 2nd rehab start for Rangers' Triple-A team. Texas Rangers right-hander Max Scherzer struck out five while retiring 12 of the 14 batters he faced Sunday in his long-delayed second rehab start for Triple-A Round Rock since offseason surgery for a herniated disk in his lower back. Scherzer threw four scoreless innings, then exited the game after an eight-pitch walk that opened the fifth against Oklahoma City, an affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Scherzer's first rehab start was 52 pitches for Round Rock on April 24, but the second start was pushed back because of right thumb soreness that team doctors later identified as a nerve issue that extended to his right triceps.
