KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Royals legend Eric Hosmer threw out the first pitch before Game 3 of the American League Division Series. Hosmer, a key member of the 2014 and 2015 teams that appeared in (and won one) World Series, returned to Kauffman Stadium. Advertisement He was part of two iconic moments in the 2015 postseason. He drove home Lorenzo Cain in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series, which turned out to be the series-winning run against the Toronto Blue Jays. Hosmer also raced home in the top of the ninth in Game 5 of the World Series in New York to tie that game. During his years in Kansas City, Hosmer hit .284 with 127 home runs and 566 RBIs. Former first baseman Eric Hosmer, who spent time with the San Diego Padres during his impressive MLB career, announced his retirement before the 2024 season.
