2/28/25 | Baltimore Orioles Getting Back 'Dominant Force' Key to Team's Late-Game Success. The Baltimore Orioles are hoping one of the areas of the team that improves the most in 2025 compared to 2024 is the performance of the bullpen late in games. The Craig Kimbrel experience was a roller coaster ride, but not the good kind, as he struggled to consistently close out games for the team. The Orioles released him before the regular season ended and he has yet to latch on with a team for 2025. This could certainly be an addition by subtraction move by Baltimore, as removing a -1.1 WAR performer from the mix will only help. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/orioles/news/baltimore-orio... |
2/20/25 | Can Philadelphia Phillies Fix Fatal Flaw Behind Recent Postseason Failures?. Over the last three years, the Philadelphia Phillies have been one of the best teams in baseball. Unfortunately, they don't have any World Series titles to show for it. One of the biggest reasons for their recent shortcomings in October has been their bullpen, which has repeatedly let them down in the biggest moments of the season. Craig Kimbrel (12.00 ERA), Orion Kerkering (7.71 ERA) and Gregory Soto (6.75 ERA) were the main culprits, with Kimbrel suffering back-to-back losses in Games 3 and 4. 1/28/25 | Angels Still Want to Make Multiple Bullpen Additions As Spring Training Nears. The Los Angeles Angels have been busy this offseason and have room to add more players, according to a report from Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Rosenthal reported that the Angels "have told at least one agent they have two or three bullpen spots to fill." The Angels have been linked to several relievers but the most recent name has been former Baltimore Orioles closer Craig Kimbrel. According to Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report, the Angels should consider bringing in the right-handed reliever despite a disappointing second half of 2024. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/angels/angels-news/angels-s... |
12/10/24 | Unfamiliar optimism surrounds Orioles at MLB winter meetings. Before departing last year's winter meetings, Orioles executive vice president and general manager Mike Elias joked about the irony of his signing. The meetings last year were slow, and the $13 million contract Baltimore gave to closer Craig Kimbrel was the largest guarantee given to a free agent during the three-day event. “I hope everyone had that on their bingo card,” Elias quipped last December. The underlying sentiment of Elias' joke wasn't hard to understand: The Orioles, one of baseball's cheapest teams during his tenure, weren't expected by outsiders to be big spenders. 10/05/24 | 19 former Red Sox that are playing in the 2024 MLB Postseason. The Boston Red Sox were eliminated from playoff contention with three games remaining in the regular season. There are a staggering 19 former Sox in the postseason, but a few teams don't feature any. The Cleveland Guardians, Detroit Tigers and Baltimore Orioles did not have any former Red Sox on their rosters by the time the Wild Card round started. Baltimore had 2016-18 Red Sox Craig Kimbrel on the squad for most of the season, but he was designated for assignment on Sept. 18 and later released.
