1/30/24 Josh Hader reveals why he signed with Astros. Whenever there is a hint of doubt surrounding the Houston Astros, the franchise tends to respond in a big way. With multiple relievers entering MLB free agency and respected catcher Martin Maldonado joining the Chicago White Sox, the club faces some uncertainty. Any concern, however, was greatly alleviated with the huge signing of Josh Hader. The top relief pitcher agreed to a five-year, $95 million contract with the Astros on Jan. 19, which makes him one of the highest-paid bullpen pieces of all-time.

1/05/24 Former Astros catcher Martin Maldonado signs 1-year deal with Chicago White Sox. Martin Maldonado is trading in Texas BBQ for Chicago deep-dish pizza after signing a one-year deal with the White Sox on Friday. According to MLB.com, White Sox infielder Zach Remillard was designated for assignment to make room for Maldonado on the 40-man roster. Maldonado, 37, spent the last six seasons with the Astros.

12/27/23 White Sox, ex-Astros catcher Martin Maldonado agree to 1-year deal. Dec. 27 (UPI) -- The Chicago White Sox agreed to a one-year, $4 million deal with free agent catcher Martin Maldonado. The 13-year veteran spent the last five seasons with the Houston Astros , winning a World Series in 2022. Sources told MLB.com , ESPN and the New York Post about the agreement on Tuesday.
