9/07/25 Yankees key veteran still on hold with nagging injury. Paul Goldschmidt was only available in an emergency on Saturday for the Yankees because he's still managing a right knee injury. Yankees manager Aaron Boone revealed on Sunday morning that Goldschmidt recently had more tests done on his knee, an injury that traces back to a fall he had at first base while making a catch in foul territory midway through August. At that point, Goldschmidt was diagnosed with a low-grade right knee sprain. Attention shifted back to Goldschmidt when the New York Post reported on Saturday night that the veteran was an emergency sub in the Yankees' win over Toronto.

8/20/25 Paul Goldschmidt Makes History as Yankees Sweep Cardinals. On Sunday, August 17, 2025, Paul Goldschmidt returned to Busch Stadium as a member of the New York Yankees. The 37-year-old first baseman played six seasons for the St. Louis Cardinals after joining them in 2019. During that time, he won a Gold Glove Award, a Silver Slugger Award, and was named the 2022 National League Most Valuable Player. Goldschmidt became a fan-favorite and a leader in the Cardinals organization.

8/19/25 Yankees Veteran Shuts Down Concerns Over Knee Injury. When the New York Yankees executed an impressive sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals in their latest series, and added insult to injury: literally. While Yankees first baseman and former Cardinal Paul Goldschmidt sat out the first two games of the series due to a minor knee injury, he was back in action for the third and exacted his revenge. Goldschmidt and his new team dealt a huge blow to the Cardinals, defeating the NL club 8-4. After the game, Goldschmidt said that he wasn't particularly concerned about his injury and was focused on getting back on the field.
