1/10/25 Red Sox Free Agency Update: Boston checks in with multiple relievers. The Boston Red Sox's bullpen struggled mightily in the back half of the 2024 campaign. The additions of Justin Wilson and Aroldis Chapman have brought some left-handedness and increased velocity into the mix, but the Sox are itching to sign more veteran arms for the 'pen. Boston has checked in with Tanner Scott, Jeff Hoffman, Carlos Estévez, A. J. Minter, Phil Maton, Andrew Kittredge (who has since signed with the Orioles) and Tommy Kahnle, with varying degrees of interest, per multiple sources.

1/09/25 Former Mets reliever seen as a free agent option for Red Sox. The Boston Red Sox have already added a couple of veteran relievers this offseason, signing Justin Wilson and Aroldis Chapman to try and re-tool a group that needs to be better in 2025. According to MassLive's Chris Cotillo, one option that's on the Red Sox's radar in free agency is right-handed reliever Phil Maton. Maton, 31, was a 20th-round pick of the San Diego Padres in the 2015 MLB draft out of Louisiana Tech.

12/10/24 Juan Soto isn't the only free agent the Mets stole from the Red Sox. The Boston Red Sox entered the offseason with a huge need for pitching, both in the rotation and the bullpen, and while they've already acquired Justin Wilson and Aroldis Chapman, they could still use more. Before Boston lost out on superstar outfielder Juan Soto to the New York Mets, Steve Cohen's team reportedly beat the Red Sox to another free agent - right-handed pitcher Clay Holmes.

11/30/24 Newest Red Sox pitcher explains how he landed in Boston as a free agent. The Boston Red Sox haven't made many moves through the first month of the offseason, but they did sign veteran relief pitcher Justin Wilson from the Cincinnati Reds. The 37-year-old posted a 5.59 ERA, 1.456 WHIP and 9.8 K/9 in 60 appearances (46 2/3 innings) for Cincinnati in 2024. Earlier this week, Wilson appeared on the "Baseball Isn't Boring" podcast and broke down how the deal came together. "Truthfully, it happened fast," Wilson said.
