2/18/24 Why new Red Sox reliever (had 2.71 ERA with Yankees) is 'like a cockroach'. New Red Sox reliever Lucas Luetge has a fun and interesting way to describe himself as a professional baseball player. “I always tell people I'm like a cockroach,” Luetge said Saturday at JetBlue Park. The 36-year-old left — who has gone through it all in his career but keeps returning for more — signed a minor league contract with the Red Sox right before spring training. The 2008 21st round draft pick out of Rice pitched well as a 25-year-old rookie in 2012, posting a 3.98 ERA in 63 outings for Seattle.
2/12/24 Ex-Yankees reliever looking to revive career with Red Sox this spring. Lucas Luetge resurrected his big-league career with the Yankees in 2021. Luetge has agreed to a contract with Boston, the ex-Yankees reliever revealed over the weekend with a post on his social media channels. The terms of the agreement with the Red Sox were not specified, but based on the way Luetge's 2023 season went with the Braves, we can assume that the contract is a minor-league deal with an invite to spring training. This comes after a breakout stint with the Yankees where Luetge snapped a six-year odyssey back to the big leagues.
2/11/24 Red Sox sign lefty who had 2.71 ERA in 107 outings for Yankees in 2021-22. The Red Sox have signed 36-year-old left-handed reliever Lucas Luetge to a minor league deal. Luetge announced the signing himself on Twitter and Instagram. He did not provide the terms of the contract but it is a minor league deal, according to an industry source. He was limited to just 12 appearances (13 ? innings) for the Braves in 2023 because of left bicep inflammation and poor performance (7.24 ERA). Luetge has had recent success though. He posted a 2.71 ERA, 2.92 FIP and 1.25 WHIP in 107 outings (129 ? innings) for the Yankees in 2021-22 combined. He averaged 9.6 strikeouts and 2.2 walks per nine innings. New York traded him to the Braves on Dec. 28, 2022, for minor leaguers Indigo Diaz

10/24/23 Yankees unranked prospect shining in Arizona Fall League. The Yankees didn't send any top prospects to the Arizona Fall League this year, but one unranked bat is swinging his way into the spotlight. Second baseman Caleb Durbin is hitting .347 with a 1.104 OPS over three weeks with the Mesa Solar Socks in Arizona. Durbin, 23, was acquired by the Yankees in the Lucas Luetge trade with the Braves last winter. The 14th-rounder from 2021 slashed .304/.395/.427 across 69 games with High-A Hudson Valley and Double-A Somerset this year.
