7/06/25 Cubs' Matthew Boyd seeks continued success in clash vs. Cardinals. The Chicago Cubs have been beset by pitching injuries this season, with Jameson Taillon the latest starter to land on the injured list. Fortunately, left-hander Matthew Boyd has emerged as a steadying force for the rotation. "Losing (Justin) Steele so early and then obviously losing Shota (Imanaga) for almost two months, we really needed Matt to step up, especially with some of the young guys sort of getting their feet wet," Cubs president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer said. Boyd (8-3, 2.65 ERA) will try to continue his success Sunday when the Cubs host the Cardinals in the rubber game of a three-game series.

7/05/25 Cubs Bring Back One of Their Former First-Round Picks. The Chicago Cubs find themselves in desperate need of more pitching. Already knowing they were going to try and add an arm or two ahead of the trade deadline, the latest calf strain to Jameson Taillon that is going to keep him out for a significant amount of time has created some more urgency to ensure an addition happens. While Chicago is being patient in search of a potential splash deal, they have also decided to bring back one of their former first-round picks. According to Darragh McDonald of MLB Trade Rumors, the Cubs have signed Ryan Jensen to a minor league deal after he was released by the Minnesota Twins on June 25.

6/09/25 Chicago Cubs Show Dominance, Overtake Dodgers In Recent Power Rankings. The Chicago Cubs lost two out of three against the Detroit Tigers over the weekend, including getting shut out 4-0, with the offense producing four hits and 12 strikeouts. While Jameson Taillon put together a crisp seven innings on Saturday to hold the Tigers to one run, the series was not a great showing in what could have been a potential World Series preview. 5/20/25 Jameson Taillon gives Cubs exactly the performance they needed in 14-1 win vs. Marlins. MIAMI – Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon tried something different from the first batter he faced Tuesday. The changeup's kind of a new weapon for me,” Taillon said after the Cubs' 14-1 win Tuesday against the Marlins. “I've rarely thrown it in two-strike counts, just in my career. And then now, to have a real weapon with two strikes, I have to be comfortable saying yes to throwing change ups in two-strike counts.” Against Marlins leadoff hitter Jesús Sánchez, Taillon said yes twice. He got ahead with one ball and two strikes and threw a changeup low and away to the switch hitter. Sánchez watched it for a ball. Then Taillon came back with the same pitch, over the outer third of the plate but
