2/20/24 Cardinals' Miles Mikolas hopes a return to basics prompts a return to his All-Star form. Feb. 16—JUPITER, Fla. — Last year's American League Cy Young runner-up Sonny Gray was undoubtedly the biggest addition the Cardinals made to their starting pitching rotation this winter. The second-biggest development for the rotation could be Miles Mikolas regaining his previous form as an All-Star innings eater and ground-ball machine.
2/14/24 St. Louis Cardinals executive John Mozeliak not concerned about rotation age. John Mozeliak looks at the Cardinals pitching staff and isn't worried about older arms. “Unlike like our upcoming election, I am not overly concerned with age in this current state,” the team's president of baseball operations said Wednesday as spring training workouts began. St. Louis was fifth in the NL Central last year at 71-91, its first losing season since 2007 and its most losses since 1990. The Cardinals added three starting pitchers as free agents, reaching a $75 million, three-year deal with Sonny Gray and one-year agreements with Kyle Gibson ($13 million) and Lance Lynn ($11 million).
2/14/24 Cardinals Have Chance To Land Postseason Star Pitcher To Bolster Rotation. Cardinals Have Chance To Land Postseason Star Pitcher To Bolster Rotation St. Louis could end up making one more shocking move Author: Patrick McAvoy Publish date: Feb 14, 2024 10:42 AM EST In this story: St. Louis Cardinals The St. Louis Cardinals have added three starting pitchers, but could a fourth be on the way? St. Louis entered the offseason looking to completely rebuild its starting rotation. The Cardinals have done just that by landing Sonny Gray, Lance Lynn, and Kyle Gibson. St. Louis put a focus on veterans with a history of eating innings to help stabilize the rotation. The Cardinals handed out a large deal to Gray, but otherwise haven't spent massively. That doesn't mean
2/13/24 Photos: All eyes on Sonny Gray as Cardinals pitchers and catchers report for spring training. St. Louis Cardinals pitchers and catchers are in camp for the first day of spring training on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024 in Jupiter, Florida. Many position and minor league players are already working out.
2/12/24 How Twins plan to replace Sonny Gray: one inning at a time. Instead of trying to outscore opponents, they would build a powerhouse defense and a capable running game to support quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The Timberwolves zigged when the rest of the NBA zagged, trading a massive number of assets for defensive center Rudy Gobert when most teams were prioritizing guard play and wing athletes. Last fall, Wolves coach Chris Finch decided to emphasize defense in practices. Now a team whose two best players -- Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns -- are offensive standouts is winning largely because of an excellent defense headed by Gobert.
