7/18/24 White Sox Hurler Is 'Trade Target To Watch,' Could Cardinals Acquire Him?. It would be surprising if the St. Louis Cardinals' starting rotation didn't look a little different shortly. St. Louis has been great lately and is worth investing in with the trade deadline right around the corner. The Cardinals' biggest need over the last year has been starting pitching and that still is the case despite signing Sonny Gray, Lance Lynn, and Kyle Gibson this past offseason. The Cardinals could still use another hurler and will have plenty of competition for starters at the upcoming trade deadline.

7/17/24 St. Louis Cardinals Could Trade For A Veteran Starting Pitcher. After a sluggish start to the 2024 Major League Baseball season, the Cardinals are only 4.5 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central Division. Now, with 66 games remaining in the MLB season, the club may look to bolster their starting rotation with another veteran pitcher. Entering the season, the Cardinals added free agent right-handers Sonny Gray, Lance Lynn, and Kyle Gibson.

7/13/24 Sonny Gray builds momentum toward 2nd half. Cardinals offense has 2 days to do the same.. The review of Sonny Gray's first-half finale with its seven steady innings, handful of mild hits, and most of all two runs scored on outs would look and feel a lot different for the Cardinals if not for the name opposite his in the pitching matchup. Kyle Hendricks tends to give the Cardinals two things. Gray, the centerpiece acquisition of the Cardinals' pitching-rich offseason, had the kind of start to slingshot him into the second half if not for the hits that found holes and the offense that was full of them. Gray limited the Cubs to three runs – two of which scored on a groundout and a sacrifice fly – but during his seven innings on the mound the Cardinals managed zilch against Hendricks and eventually lost, 5-1, on Friday night at Busch Stadium.
