So when president of baseball operations David Stearns contacted him in November about potentially moving to left field, Nimmo said he didn't protest. “I told him, 'Honestly, my goal at this point in my career is to win a World Series,' ” Nimmo said Monday after the Mets' initial full-squad workout of spring training. “If you think that creating the better outfield defense or adding these guys to our roster is going to help our chances of winning the World Series then I will do that. “I'm a good center fielder, but if
2/13/24 Mets manager Carlos Mendoza could see Brandon Nimmo 'playing both' left and center field or just 'staying' in left. The new Mets manager spoke at Spring Training on Tuesday where the utilization of both Brandon Nimmo and Harrison Bader was just one of the big decisions looming over the 44-year-old skipper. “We got good options,” Mendoza said. Early indications are that Bader will get the majority of the time in center field.
2/08/24 Mets' leader needs to emerge into a captain, host says. For the Mets to succeed, they're going to need Brandon Nimmo to step up as the leader of the team — that's what WFAN host Sal Licata believes. On Wednesday, Licata, who also hosts “Baseball Night in New York” on SNY, called for the homegrown Met to overtake Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor as the defacto team captain. “It is abundantly clear to me that Brandon Nimmo is the leader of this team,” Licata said, via Audacy.
2/06/24 Mets' Brandon Nimmo on moving to left field: 'I'm completely open to making the team better at whatever capacity that is'. Brandon Nimmo is going to do whatever it takes to ensure the Mets are playoff contenders in 2024, even if it means moving away from his natural defensive position in center field. Appearing on The Show Podcast, Nimmo detailed his exchanges with new president of baseball operations, David Stearns, during the team's pursuit and signing of center fielder Harrison Bader — one of the game's finest defenders at that position.
