6/30/25 Phillies Looking To Go 8-2 in Last 10 Zack Wheeler Starts in Series Opener vs. Padres. The Phillies are 7-2 in Zack Wheeler's last nine starts. The Phils are 4-1 at home in Wheeler's five home appearances during that span. The two exceptions were last week's 2-0 loss in Houston and a rare bad outing from Wheeler against the Braves on May 29. Most Phillies bets seem to be in play on Monday because the Padres haven't been good on the road recently.

6/29/25 The Phillies' starting pitching can get them back to October, but can't save them alone. Ranger Suárez took his start deep through seven innings on Sunday in Atlanta, just as he did in his previous outing on Tuesday in Houston, when he went for 7.2 frames. The Phillies' starting pitching has been among the very best in baseball as the calendar pushes into July. Suárez, who improved to 7-2 with Sunday's victory, has been excellent since returning to the fold from late spring and early season back issues. Zack Wheeler has remained as the Cy Young-caliber ace at the top, Cristopher Sánchez keeps finding new heights as a breakthrough lefty, and even though Aaron Nola is down with injury (and was struggling mightily before it), winter trade acquisition Jesús Luzardo has done a lot to counterbalance the veteran's absence and, for a stretch, so had rookie Mick Abel.

6/28/25 Phillies Slugger Not Putting Time Stamp on His Retirement. The news earlier this month was about Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler saying that he expected to retire in 2027 after his contract ended. Naturally, with a team that has a mature core, the question is whether any other Phillies are contemplating retirement? The 34-year-old has been with Philadelphia since 2019 and has been a mainstay behind the plate during each of their last three playoff runs. The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal (subscription required) recently reported that Realmuto isn't in the same head space as Wheeler right now.

6/22/25 Phillies Pitching Duo Feature Most Optimized Arsenals in Baseball. Over the last few years, the Philadelphia Phillies' biggest strength has consistently been their starting rotation. Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola have been long-term mainstays. Cristopher Sanchez and Ranger Suarez have emerged more recently as high-upside middle-of-the-rotation arms. The team has received solid contributions from rookie Mick Abel in 2025 and Taijuan Walker has had his moments after a disastrous 2024.

6/20/25 Happy Zack Wheeler Day!. How could you not love the Phillies money line and most of Wheeler's props on Friday night? Wheeler's strikeout prop sits at over/under 6.5, his outs recorded line sits at over/under 18.5 and +130 to record a win. Wheeler cruised over the outs recorded in two of his last three starts against the Mets, but he hasn't recorded more than 19 outs in four of his last five starts.

6/16/25 Former Mets pitcher-turned-NL ace plots retirement in midst of peak. Despite still dominating as the ace of the Philadelphia Phillies, Zack Wheeler knows when he will be done with baseball. According to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, the 35-year-old will retire after the 2027 season, when his $126 million contract expires. This season, Wheeler has a 2.76 ERA with 110 strikeouts over 88 innings. Wheeler was asked if he would reconsider his retirement if he kept pitching at a high level.

6/16/25 Phillies star to retire after 2027 season: 'It'll be easy to walk away'. Philadelphia Phillies ace pitcher Zack Wheeler will retire from MLB after the 2027 season, he confirmed to The Athletic. “That's the plan,” said Wheeler, who turned 35 on May 30. Wheeler, who is among MLB's best pitchers of this decade, said he will retire even if he continues to perform at a high level. Wheeler dominated against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday, tossing six innings while allowing four hits, one earned run and striking out nine.

6/15/25 Zack Wheeler Has Already Reportedly Made Major Decision on His Future. According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, Philadelphia Phillies' ace Zack Wheeler has no desire to pitch into his 40s like Charlie Morton or Justin Verlander. Kudos to Phillies ace Zack Wheeler, who is already telling everyone that he plans to retire after the 2027 season to spend time with his family. One of the best pitchers in the league, he finished second in the National League Cy Young voting in 2024. A two-time All-Star, Wheeler seems a lock for his third trip to the Midsummer Classic.

6/14/25 Phillies Ace Sets Alarmingly Close Retirement Date As Career Winds Down. The Philadelphia Phillies have been able to enjoy having the likes of Zack Wheeler in their starting rotation for years now, but it looks as though they may need to start planning for what's next. In a recent interview with Matt Gelb of The Athletic (subscription required), Wheeler set a retirement date that is coming soon; when his contract ends after the 2027 campaign. "I mean, he can say all he wants,” said his less assured teammate J.T. Realmuto.

6/13/25 Phillies Zack Wheeler makes 'unequivocal' retirement decision. The Philadelphia Phillies have one of the best starting pitchers in Major League Baseball in two-time All-Star Zack Wheeler, but they likely won't have him much longer. Wheeler, 35, is an 11-year veteran, spending his first five seasons with the New York Mets before joining the Phillies. In 13 starts this season, Wheeler is 6-2 with a 2.85 ERA and 101 strikeouts across 82 innings pitched.

6/09/25 Minnesota Twins Weren't Fans of A's Sacramento Ballpark. It appears as though opposing players are beginning to speak out about the playing conditions at Sutter Health Park. In a recent homestand, it was Philadelphia Phillies ace Zack Wheeler, who said, "the mound was terrible." This past homestand, it was multiple members of the Minnesota Twins that had gripes of their own. Correa also told The Athletic (not the A's longform name, the publication), "It's the worst box I've ever stepped in."
