6/26/25 Nationals Major Free Agent Addition Has Struggled in One Key Area. The Washington Nationals made several veteran additions to their team this past winter, hoping they would help push the team forward in their rebuild. Unfortunately, most of those moves have not paid off, with very little impact being made by the players signed in free agency. Arguably, the most disappointing addition to this point has been designated hitter Josh Bell. For the 2021 season and through 2022, before he was traded along with Juan Soto to the San Diego Padres, Bell was crushing the ball.

6/24/25 Washington Nationals DH Josh Bell Breaks Modern MLB Record With Wild HR. The Washington Nationals were already well on their way to victory Monday night, but Josh Bell had one more highlight left in the tank. In the top of the ninth inning, the Nationals led the San Diego Padres 9-3. Yuki Matsui got first baseman Nathaniel Lowe to ground out for the first out of the frame before immediately burying Bell in an 0-2 count. Matsui tried to get Bell to chase a high fastball for the strikeout.

6/24/25 Nationals' Josh Bell hit the highest pitch for a home run in MLB history. Josh Bell has hit 181 home runs in his MLB career, but he'd never hit one like this. In fact, no player has ever hit one like this, at least in the pitch tracking era, which began in 2008. On Monday night, Bell turned on a ninth-inning home run in San Diego batting right-handed, putting the exclamation point on a Nationals win. The key: The pitch was 4.65 feet off the ground.

6/08/25 Struggling Nationals Fan Favorite Finally Heating Up at the Plate. As the month of June continues to creep along and the All-Star break inches ever closer, the Washington Nationals continue to be one of the more interesting teams in the MLB. For the first time in what seemed like forever, Washington could see the light at the end of the tunnel. Aiding these efforts has been the quiet resurgence of veteran slugger Josh Bell over the past couple of weeks. Bell, who the Nationals signed to a one-year deal this past offseason, got off to an absolutely brutal start to the 2025 campaign.
