8/18/25 | Royals Cut Bait With 11-Year MLB Veteran After Disappointing Stint In KC. The Kansas City Royals have searched around many corners in their quest for offense this season, and not all of their efforts have proven fruitful. Just before the season began, the Royals made a trade to acquire 11-year major league veteran Mark Canha from the Milwaukee Brewers. The 36-year-old outfielder/first baseman was slated to miss the major league roster cut for the Brewers, now the best team in Major League Baseball. Unfortunately, results come first, and Canha wasn't able to perform in the opportunities he got in Kansas City. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/royals/news/royals-cut-bait... |
8/08/25 | Royals to send outfielder Mark Canha to Wichita on rehab assignment. Kansas City Royals outfielder Mark Canha is set to begin a rehab assignment Friday night in Wichita. 7/08/25 | Royals outfielder gets important injury update. When the Kansas City Royals (44-48) battle the Pittsburgh Pirates (38-54) in Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday night, they will try to win consecutive series for the first time in more than two months. Mark Canha will not be able to help them end this insufferably long drought, though. The veteran outfielder is now on the 10-day injured list with what is essentially tennis elbow, per MLB.com's Anne Rogers. The Royals acquired the right-handed hitter in March in part because he has proven himself to be a reliable depth piece in the later years of his MLB career. 5/07/25 | $1.4 Million Veteran Has Been Royals' 'Most Impactful' Addition, MLB Writer Declares. The Kansas City Royals didn't make the splashiest moves this offseason, but one they made right before Opening Day sure looks to be paying off. Less than a week before Opening Day, the Royals acquired journeyman outfielder Mark Canha from the Milwaukee Brewers for a player to be named later. Canha had previously signed a minor-league deal with Milwaukee in spring training, and is making only $1.4 million on the Royals this season. Canha's career track record would have suggested that he'd get better opportunities, but he was coming off a down year and he's 36, so in a year where the market was tough for older free agents, he didn't get the benefit of the doubt.
