4/17/25 | Time flies: Kris Bryant's Cubs debut was 10 years ago today, and here's how it went. Kris Bryant will always hold a special place in the hearts of Chicago Cubs fans, and Thursday marks a remarkable anniversary. It was on this date in 2015 that Bryant, then the top prospect in the Cubs' system, made his major-league debut with the club, batting fourth and playing third base at Wrigley Field against the San Diego Padres. While Bryant's rookie season was hugely successful, his debut was not one for the record books, as he fanned three times in four at-bats as the Cubs lost 5-4 to the Padres. 4/15/25 | Injury-prone Rockies DH Kris Bryant heads to IL for 9th time since joining the team in 2022. Colorado Rockies designated hitter Kris Bryant has landed on the injured list with a bad back, his ninth IL stint since joining the team. The Rockies say the move is due to lumbar degenerative disk disease. The 33-year-old Bryant spent the offseason following a stringent program to strengthen his back. Manager Bud Black says Bryant aggravated his back and it's something he'll have to manage throughout the season. Just like the major league-worst Rockies, Bryant has gotten off to a slow start. He's batting .154 with six hits, one RBI, 13 strikeouts and no homers. Bryant's numbers have tailed off considerably since his best years with the Chicago Cubs. He was the NL MVP in 2016 when the Cubs won the World Series. Source: https://www.chron.com/sports/article/injury-prone-... |
